Hamonic's success in junior hockey included helping the Wheat Kings reach the 2010 Memorial Cup Final and earning a spot on the tournament's All-Star Team. He also represented Team Canada at the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championship, winning a silver medal. Additionally, Hamonic won a gold medal at the 2008 IIHF World Under-18 Championship.
