Local Talent Braden Horton Commits to Penn State Hockey for 2026 Recruiting Class

Penn State hockey recently secured a commitment from in-state forward Braden Horton for their 2026 recruiting class. Hailing from Souderton, PA, Horton had an impressive season with 112 points in 57 games for the Shattuck-St. Mary’s U15 team. Shattuck-St. Mary’s has a history of producing NHL talent, including stars like Sidney Crosby and Nathan MacKinnon. Horton has also been selected for the US National Development team and is expected to join Penn State after his time there. He is among the first 2009-born skaters to commit to an NCAA member school this summer.
While star ratings are not as prevalent in college hockey recruiting as they are in other sports, Horton is considered a top prospect, potentially a four-star recruit. His commitment is a significant addition to the Penn State hockey program, particularly as he is a local talent. With the season opener against Arizona State just 48 days away, the anticipation for the upcoming season is building.
