Power to the People: John Lennon and Yoko Ono's Early Years in New York - A 12-Disc Box Set Release

A new box set showcasing John Lennon and Yoko Ono's early years in New York is set to be released on October 10 by Universal Music Group. The 12-disc set, Power to the People, contains 90 unreleased tracks, including demos, home recordings, jam sessions, and live recordings from their 1972 One to One shows at Madison Square Garden. The collection also includes a newly mixed version of their 1972 album Sometime in New York City. Power to the People features collaborations with Elephant’s Memory, Invisible Strings, Frank Zappa and the Mothers, David Peel and the Lower East Side, and Phil Ochs. Sean Ono Lennon oversaw the production of the recordings.

Yoko Ono expressed in the preface of the box set that the One to One concert was a representation of their belief in grassroots politics and using music for peace and enlightenment. The concert at Madison Square Garden was the last one John and Yoko performed together. The message of the concert was to imagine peace and recognize that peace is power. Power To The People!
