Alex Gagne Signs Two-Year Entry-Level Contract with Colorado Avalanche

Defenseman Alex Gagne has signed a two-year entry-level contract with the Colorado Avalanche Hockey Club, extending through the 2026-27 season. The 23-year-old recently captained the University of New Hampshire team during his senior season, where he achieved a career-high of 17 points in 35 games. Gagne led the team's defensemen in scoring and ranked fourth overall in assists, earning him a spot on the Hockey East Third All-Star Team. Hailing from Bedford, N.H., Gagne played four seasons with the Wildcats, accumulating 48 points in 139 collegiate games.
Before his time at the University of New Hampshire, the 6-foot-5, 225-pound defenseman played in the United States Hockey League for the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders and the Muskegon Lumberjacks. Gagne tallied 34 points in 91 USHL games, with his standout performance in the 2020-21 season earning him a spot on the USHL Third All-Star Team. Additionally, he participated in four Clark Cup playoff games with the Lumberjacks.
Originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Gagne brings a wealth of experience and skill to the Colorado Avalanche.
