OHL News Roundup: Awards, Signings, Retirements, and Preseason Schedule Announcements
The OHL recently concluded its Annual General Meeting of the Board of Governors. Tim Lukenda, the President and Governor of the Greyhounds, was honored with the inaugural David Branch Leader of the Year Award. The late Jim Waters, owner and governor of the Otters, was posthumously recognized with the Bill Long Award. The Rangers and Sun Life collaborated to raise over $12,500 for Camino Wellbeing and Mental Health. The Firebirds signed Ducks prospect Darels Uljanskis, while the Frontenacs acquired defenseman Jack Brauti from the IceDogs. The Knights signed defenseman Julian Brown, and 28 OHL players and prospects are set to compete at the 2025 Hlinka Gretzky Cup. Additionally, the Attack signed defenseman John Banks, and the Bulldogs promoted Owen Burnell to Assistant Coach. The Greyhounds will retire Jeff Carter's #7 on November 22nd, and Di Iorio and Valentini were named Assistant Captains for Canada at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup. The Knights signed goaltender Sebastian Gatto, and the Petes signed CHL Import Draft pick Leon Kolarik. The OHL In The System features all 32 NHL teams, and the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase was recently recapped. The OHL has announced its 2025 preseason schedule, and a total of 41 OHL players were selected in the 2025 NHL Draft, the most since 2017. Furthermore, OHL clubs selected 50 players in the 2025 CHL Import Draft.
