Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame Awards Festival Celebrates Local Talent and Community Spirit

Jeff Goodwin shared a story about how he created his band, the Front Range Cowboys, on the spot when asked by the owner of Dirty Dogs Roadhouse in Golden. This fib led to the band's formation, and they are now a popular fixture along the Front Range, drawing inspiration from artists like George Strait. Goodwin recently won Male Vocalist of the Year at the Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame Awards Festival, where Alyssa Ruffin was named Female Vocalist of the Year. The event, held at Wild Goose Saloon in Parker, celebrated local country music talent and recognized artists often overlooked outside of Colorado's local clubs.

The festival also inducted a new group of musicians into the Hall of Fame, including Michael Jocham, Glenn Taylor, Dave Hopping, Ron Forbis, Jerry and Sandy Brown, Randy Pietro, Steve Jennings, Scott Gray, Jim “Crusty” Stevens, Ken Wilson, Jon Chandler, and Walker Williams. Duey Weibel, who formed the band Unbroken after an eight-year hiatus, was named Comeback Artist of the Year. He expressed gratitude for the support and camaraderie within the Colorado country music scene. The festival showcased a diverse range of talent, from seasoned musicians like Tony Ortega, who won Instrumentalist of the Year, to emerging artists like Joe Wren, who won Best Single Country Artist.

Todd Clayton and Meghan Clarisse won Country Duo of the Year, highlighting the importance of collaboration and community within the music scene. Chelsey Webb, this year's Female Entertainer of the Year, emphasized the sense of family and unity among Colorado musicians. The Country Music Project, a band founded by Michael Rice, was named Band of the Year, underscoring the significance of live music in the country genre. The festival also saw a tie for Male Entertainer of the Year between Don Carlton of RENEGADE 5280 and Matt Wheatly of the Hillbilly Demons, showcasing the diverse range of talent and styles within Colorado's country music scene.

The Colorado Country Music Hall of Fame Awards Festival serves as a platform to celebrate and recognize the rich talent and contributions of local country musicians. The event not only honors established artists but also provides a spotlight for emerging talent, fostering a sense of community and collaboration within the Colorado music scene. Congratulations to all the award winners and inductees for their dedication and passion for country music.
