Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame to Honor George Strait and Miranda Lambert in 2026

Country music icons George Strait and Miranda Lambert are set to be honored with induction into the prestigious Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2026. The Texas Heritage Songwriters Association recently announced the four distinguished individuals who will join the Hall of Fame alongside Strait and Lambert: Don Cook and Keith Gattis. The Association is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating Texas songwriters who have made significant contributions to the state's unique culture.

Miranda Lambert, a native of Lindale, Texas, rose to fame after her appearance on Nashville Star in 2003. She is known for writing many of her hit songs, including "Over You," "Tin Man," and "Bluebird." George Strait, hailing from Pearsall, Texas, is renowned as "The King of Country" and holds the record for the most #1 songs in the genre's history. While Strait is known for performing songs written by others, he has also penned notable tracks like "I Believe" and "The Little Things."

Don Cook, born in Carrizo Springs, Texas, has written songs recorded by various artists, including Brooks & Dunn and Kelly Clarkson. Keith Gattis, a native of Georgetown, Texas, collaborated with artists like Kenny Chesney and George Jones. The four inductees will be officially welcomed into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame during a ceremony on February 21, 2026, at ACL Live in Austin.

In addition to their musical achievements, George Strait and Miranda Lambert have demonstrated their commitment to their home state of Texas during times of crisis. Following catastrophic flooding in the Texas Hill Country, both artists organized benefit concerts to raise funds for relief efforts. Strait's concert in Boerne raised $6.25 million, while Lambert's Band Together Texas benefit show, featuring Parker McCollum and other artists, raised $8.5 million. The event was livestreamed online, showcasing the generosity and compassion of these country music stars.

George Strait and Miranda Lambert's induction into the Texas Songwriters Hall of Fame and their charitable efforts exemplify their dedication to Texas and its rich musical heritage. Their contributions to the state's culture and their support for those in need truly reflect the spirit of Texas songwriting and community.
