Triste: Paz Lenchantin's Debut Solo Album - A Journey of Self-Discovery and Musical Exploration

Paz Lenchantin, known for her work with bands like Pixies, A Perfect Circle, and Zwan, is set to release her debut solo album titled Triste. The album, scheduled for release on October 17 on her Hideous Human label, features Lenchantin on most of the instruments, with guest appearances from her former A Perfect Circle bandmates Troy Van Leeuwen and Josh Freese.
Lenchantin started working on Triste in Petatlán, Mexico in 2024, crafting songs that tell the story of a young woman's love for Jesus. While not necessarily religious herself, Lenchantin sees the narrative as a metaphor for the human quest for salvation and devotion to something beyond reach. Each lyric on the album reflects a part of Lenchantin's life through a broader analogy, creating a dream-like narrative.
The process of creating this album allowed Lenchantin to discover more about herself and her musical journey. Through the freedom of her own choices, she found a deeper understanding of her identity and artistic expression. The album's themes and music reflect this personal exploration and growth, offering listeners a glimpse into Lenchantin's introspective journey.
Lenchantin's departure from Pixies, where she joined in 2014, was unexpected and not her decision. Despite the surprise exit, she expressed gratitude for the opportunity to be part of the band and contribute to their musical legacy. Lenchantin's statement on social media conveyed her appreciation for the support from fans and the band, as well as her excitement for future projects.
The album's first single, "Hang Tough," is accompanied by a music video directed by Lenchantin herself. The song sets the tone for Triste, showcasing Lenchantin's musical prowess and storytelling abilities. With a mix of personal reflection and metaphorical storytelling, Triste promises to be a captivating and introspective debut solo album from Paz Lenchantin.
