Chelsea Unveils Throwback Third Kit Inspired by José Mourinho Era

Chelsea has unveiled their new third kit for the 2025-26 season, drawing inspiration from the era of José Mourinho's successful reign at the club. The kit is part of Nike's "Total 90" throwback range, featuring design elements reminiscent of the mid-2000s. The jersey includes shield-shaped piping, central crest positioning, and pointy collars and trim that were popular during that time.

Although Chelsea wore Umbro and Adidas kits during Mourinho's tenure, Nike has chosen to pay homage to the successful period. Mourinho, who arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2004 after winning the UEFA Champions League with FC Porto, led Chelsea to six trophies in three years. The dark design of the new kit is a nod to the away kits worn by the Blues during the 2004-05 season, a campaign that saw the team achieve great success with a blend of new signings and established stars.

During the 2004-05 season, Chelsea made significant signings like Petr Cech, Ricardo Carvalho, Arjen Robben, and Didier Drogba, complementing the existing talent of players like John Terry, Claude Makélélé, and Frank Lampard. Under Mourinho's leadership, Chelsea secured their first league title in 50 years and also won the League Cup. The new third kit reflects the defiant and successful spirit of that historic season.
