From the Court to the Kitchen: The Journey of Albert King

In 1978, a group of talented freshmen emerged in college basketball, including Gene Banks at Duke, Magic Johnson at Michigan State, and Albert King at Maryland. While Banks and Johnson went on to have successful careers, King's potential greatness never fully materialized. Despite playing alongside notable players like Greg Manning, Ernest Graham, and Buck Williams at Maryland, King's focus on basketball waned compared to his brother Bernard, who achieved Hall of Fame status. Following his college career, King was drafted by the New Jersey Nets in 1981 and played for several NBA teams before retiring in 1991. After retiring, King pursued his true passion for owning restaurants, opening multiple Wendy's locations and finding success in the restaurant industry. Despite not reaching the same basketball heights as his brother, King has found fulfillment in his entrepreneurial endeavors, showcasing the importance of following one's passions and finding success in different avenues.
