Patti Smith Celebrates 50th Anniversary of 'Horses' with Special Reissue and Tour
Patti Smith is celebrating the 50th anniversary of her debut studio album, 'Horses,' with a special reissue. The album, originally released in 1975, has received numerous accolades over the years, including being inducted into the Grammy Hall Of Fame in 2021. NME has previously ranked 'Horses' as the 12th greatest album of all time, praising Smith's unique punk poet persona and the raw, visceral energy of the record.
To honor the legacy of 'Horses,' Smith has announced a remastered edition set to be released on October 10 through Legacy Recordings. The reissue will feature alternate takes of album tracks, Smith's original 1975 audition tape for RCA, and four previously unreleased songs, including 'Snowball,' which is available now. The album will be available in 2xLP and 2xCD formats.
In addition to the reissue, Smith will be performing a series of special gigs across Europe, the UK, and the US to celebrate the album's anniversary. The tour will include stops in London, Dublin, Madrid, Bergamo, Brussels, Oslo, and Paris. The London shows are scheduled for October 12 and 13 at The Palladium.
