Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy: Leagues Cup Semifinals Preview and Match Details

The Seattle Sounders are set to face off against the LA Galaxy in the Leagues Cup Semifinals. The match will take place at Dignity Health Sports Park in Carson, Calif., with kickoff at 7:45 p.m. PT. Fans can watch the game on Univision, Apple TV+, and MLS Season Pass on Apple TV, while it will be broadcast on 93.3 KJR FM and El Rey 1360AM.

The Leagues Cup format for 2025 included all 18 Liga MX teams and the top 18 qualifying clubs from MLS. Teams were divided into Eastern and Western regions based on their 2024 league performance. Each club played three group stage matches against teams from the opposing league, with no draws allowed. The top four clubs from each league advanced to the Knockout Rounds, leading to the Leagues Cup Final on Aug. 31.

The winner of the Leagues Cup will secure a direct spot in the Round of 16 of the 2026 Concacaf Champions Cup. The top three finishers will also earn automatic bids to the tournament. In the previous phase, the Sounders finished first in the MLS table, while the Galaxy secured the third spot.

The victor of the Seattle Sounders vs. LA Galaxy match will face the winner of Inter Miami vs. Orlando City in the Leagues Cup Final. The losing teams will compete in the 3rd/4th place match on the same day. The Sounders dominated the Galaxy in their previous encounter, winning 4-0.

Despite his hat trick in the Quarterfinals, Danny Musovski will be suspended for the Semifinals due to a red card. Sounders goalkeeper Andrew Thomas will return to the net for the Leagues Cup after his penalty shootout heroics in the Quarterfinals. The Sounders Head Coach rested key players in preparation for the upcoming clash.

The LA Galaxy have shown improvement after a rough start to the season, winning four of their last eight games. However, they still have the joint-worst defensive record in MLS, conceding 55 goals in 27 matches. Fans should keep an eye on key players from both teams during the Semifinals.
