Boston College Field Hockey Kicks Off 2025 Season with Weekend Series in Maine

Boston College field hockey is kicking off the 2025 season with a weekend series in Maine. The Eagles will be taking on the University of Maine on Friday at 1 p.m. and Indiana University on Saturday at 1 p.m. as they aim to build on their successful 2024 season.
After a strong 14-7 season last year, where they maintained a perfect home record, reached the ACC Tournament championship game, and competed in the NCAA Tournament, Boston College is looking to continue their winning streak on the road. The team is ranked No. 8 in the preseason NFHCA Coaches' Poll and No. 4 in the ACC Preseason poll with one first-place vote.
This weekend, the Eagles are focused on extending their winning streak against the Black Bears and securing another victory over the Hoosiers. Senior Martina Giacchino, in her second year as captain, and Eva Kluskens will lead the team this season. Giacchino has been a key player in the midfield, while Kluskens has been a consistent starter for the Eagles, earning various accolades last season.
Junior Charlotte Kramer, the 2024 ACC Goalkeeper of the Year, returns to defend the goal for Boston College. Kramer had an impressive performance last season, ranking among the top goalkeepers in the ACC in various categories. She will be a crucial player in the upcoming matches against Maine and Indiana.
The games will be held at the UMaine Field Hockey Complex in Orono, Maine, with Friday's game streamed live on ESPN+ and Saturday's on American East TV. Following this weekend, Boston College will face tough competition in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge against No. 4 Maryland and No. 1 Northwestern in Durham, N.C. The Eagles are gearing up for an exciting start to the season as they aim to continue their winning ways.
