Patti Smith's 'Horses' 50th Anniversary Tour and Special Edition Album Release

Patti Smith's iconic debut album "Horses" from 1975 is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. To mark this milestone, Smith is embarking on a global tour and releasing a special 50th-anniversary edition of the album, which will be available on double vinyl LP starting October 10. The anniversary edition includes Smith's RCA audition recording, unreleased outtakes, and remastered tracks from the original master tapes.

Described as a declaration of mutiny and a statement of faith in the transfigurative powers of rock & roll, "Horses" solidified Smith's status as the queen of punk. The album, which features classic tracks like "Gloria: In Excelsis Deo" and "Redondo Beach," showcases Smith's poetic approach to rock music and her desire to keep the genre in the hands of the people. The album cover portrait was shot by her friend Robert Mapplethorpe.

In addition to the tour and album release, Smith recently performed at a tribute show at Carnegie Hall in New York City, where she was joined by artists like Bruce Springsteen, Michael Stipe, and Karen O. Later this year, Smith will also release her new memoir, "Bread of Angels," on November 4. The memoir delves into Smith's teenage years and explores the influences of artists like Arthur Rimbaud and Bob Dylan on her creative journey.

Don't miss out on the opportunity to experience Patti Smith's timeless music and captivating storytelling by ordering the 50th-anniversary edition of "Horses" and pre-ordering her upcoming memoir, "Bread of Angels."
