Cardi B Testifies in Court: Denies Physical Altercation with Security Guard During Pregnancy

Cardi B testified in court that she did not physically touch a security guard who accused her of cutting her face with a fingernail and spitting on her during an altercation outside an obstetrician's office while she was pregnant. The argument between Cardi and the security guard, Emani Ellis, escalated, but Cardi maintained that it never turned physical. The incident took place in February 2018 when Cardi was four months pregnant with her first child.
Cardi explained that she was in Los Angeles for promotional work during the NBA All-Star Game and had not publicly announced her pregnancy at the time. Ellis, who was a security guard at the building, followed Cardi to her appointment and appeared to be filming her, causing Cardi to fear that her pregnancy would be exposed. The argument between the two women became heated, but Cardi insisted that she did not touch Ellis.
During the trial, Cardi emphasized the importance of privacy, especially regarding her pregnancy, and expressed her concerns about public perception and judgment. The testimony also focused on the nature of Cardi's acrylic nails and whether they could have caused the alleged injury to Ellis. The trial is ongoing, with Ellis seeking damages for medical expenses, emotional and physical suffering, lost wages, and punitive damages.
Tierra Malcolm, the receptionist who intervened in the argument between Cardi and Ellis, provided testimony that supported Cardi's version of events. Malcolm did not witness any physical fighting but noticed a scratch on her face afterward, which she attributed to Ellis. The trial, held in a courthouse in Alhambra, is expected to continue next week after a break this week.
