Julia Roberts to Premiere 'After the Hunt' at Venice Film Festival 2025

Julia Roberts is set to make her debut at the Venice Film Festival with the premiere of the psychosexual drama "After the Hunt." The film, directed by Luca Guadagnino, follows the story of a beloved professor, played by Roberts, whose mentee accuses her colleague of inappropriate behavior. The ensemble cast also includes Ayo Edebiri, Andrew Garfield, Michael Stuhlbarg, and Chloƫ Sevigny. Amazon MGM Studios plans to release the film in North America on October 10.
The 82nd edition of the Venice Film Festival is currently underway, with many major premieres scheduled, including films by Guillermo del Toro, Benny Safdie, and Kathryn Bigelow. Despite its strong content, "After the Hunt" is playing out of competition at the festival, as requested by the studio. The festival's chief, Alberto Barbera, acknowledged the film's quality but respected the studio's decision.
