Reunited with ACME: John Fogerty's Iconic Guitar Returns

John Fogerty's iconic electric guitar, the modded Rickenbacker 325 known as ACME, has a rich history. This guitar played a significant role in shaping the sound of Creedence Clearwater Revival's biggest hits and was a staple in the studio and on stage. Fogerty customized the guitar by adding a humbucker from a Gibson Les Paul, a Bigsby vibrato, and replacing the Rickenbacker nameplate with "ACME" in yellow paint.
Unfortunately, after CCR disbanded, Fogerty made the regrettable decision to give away ACME for free. Years later, he considered buying it back but ultimately resisted the urge. However, his wife, Julie, managed to track down the guitar and surprised him with it on Christmas morning in 2016. Fogerty was overwhelmed by the reunion and the familiar sound of the guitar.
With ACME back in his possession, Fogerty has used it to re-record a selection of CCR classics, including the guitar solo in the reprised Green River. The guitar's distinctive sound brought back memories of the band's heyday and reignited Fogerty's passion for music. The release of "Legacy: The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years" marks a new chapter in Fogerty's career, showcasing the enduring legacy of his music and the iconic ACME guitar.
