Musical Influences of The Beatles: From Sgt Pepper to Parodies

In 1967, The Beatles released Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, a groundbreaking album that revolutionized popular culture and influenced countless artists. The Kinks’ Village Green Preservation Society and The Small Faces’ Ogdens’ Nut Gone Flake are examples of albums inspired by The Beatles. John Fred and His Playboy Band, a Louisiana-based group, parodied The Beatles with their hit song ‘Judy in Disguise (With Glasses)’. The song, a play on ‘Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds’, became a number-one hit in the US and reached number three in the UK. Despite its success, the band faded into obscurity after their brief moment of musical stardom.
