Stellar Filmmakers Headline Screen Talks at the 69th BFI London Film Festival
The 69th BFI London Film Festival has announced the lineup for this year's Screen Talks program, featuring a stellar cast of filmmakers. Daniel Day-Lewis, a three-time Academy Award winner known for his roles in "There Will Be Blood," "Lincoln," and "Phantom Thread," will make a rare public appearance to discuss his new film "Anemone." Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos, acclaimed for "Dogtooth" and "The Lobster," will also participate, following the premiere of his latest film "Bugonia" at the Venice Film Festival.
Richard Linklater, the visionary behind "Boyhood" and the "Before" trilogy, will join the conversation series, showcasing his diverse filmography that includes experimental works like "Slacker" and comedies such as "School of Rock." Chloé Zhao, the Oscar-winning director of "Nomadland," known for blending documentary and narrative styles, will present her new film "Hamnet" after its premiere at Telluride.
Iranian filmmaker Jafar Panahi, recognized for films like "The White Balloon" and "Taxi," will also be part of the program, following his recent Palm d'Or win for "It Was Just an Accident." Scottish director Lynne Ramsay, known for "We Need to Talk About Kevin" and "You Were Never Really Here," will share insights into her latest film "Die My Love," which premiered at Cannes.
Actress Tessa Thompson, known for her roles in "Westworld" and the "Thor" franchise, as well as her BAFTA-nominated performance in "Passing," will round out the lineup. Her new film "Hedda" is in the London competition. The BFI London Film Festival is scheduled to take place from Oct. 8-19.
