Adelaide 36ers Player Ben Griscti Recovering from Backboard Incident: Updates and Recovery Progress

Ben Griscti, a player for the Adelaide 36ers, a professional men's basketball team in Australia, is recovering from a backboard incident during practice. The 36-year-old suffered a fractured vertebra when a backboard collapsed after a teammate's dunk at the Australian Institute of Sport Arena in Canberra.

The injury has sidelined Griscti at the beginning of the National Basketball League season. The Adelaide 36ers confirmed the incident and stated that the backboard collapsed on him during a shootaround at the AIS Arena.

Despite a hospital being nearby, it took approximately 90 minutes for an ambulance to arrive at the scene. The delay was attributed to other emergencies in the area at the time.

Griscti was conscious and stable during the hospital transport, with the team doctor providing initial care. The injury is not expected to require surgery, and Griscti has returned home to Adelaide for further medical evaluation.

While there is no set timeline for Griscti's return to the court, he expressed his intention to come back soon and thanked everyone for their support. The NBL expressed sadness over the injury and wished Griscti a speedy recovery.
