ZZ Top Drummer Frank Beard Returns to Tour After Medical Hiatus

ZZ Top's drummer, Frank Beard, is making a comeback to the band's tour after missing several August shows due to a medical issue. Beard will be rejoining the band on September 5 in Tulsa, as confirmed by ZZ Top. Fans had noticed Beard's absence since the August 8 show in Arcadia, Wisconsin, with Michael Monahan stepping in for him during that time. This marks the second instance in 2025 that Beard has had to take a break from touring, with John Douglas filling in for him earlier this year due to foot and ankle problems. The current lineup of ZZ Top includes Beard, guitarist and singer Billy Gibbons, and bassist Elwood Francis, who joined the band in 2021 after the passing of Dusty Hill. The Elevation tour is scheduled to continue through November, showcasing the band's iconic music and performances.
