Morrissey Offers Stake in The Smiths: A Soul for Sale

Morrissey has made a significant announcement regarding the sale of his business interests in the Smiths, offering the band's name, artwork, merchandising rights, and more to potential investors. In a post titled "A Soul for Sale" on his website, Morrissey Solo, he expressed his desire to sever ties with his former bandmates and protect himself from negative associations. Interested investors can contact him via email for inquiries.
Morrissey shares 50% of the Smiths' rights with Johnny Marr, raising questions about the brand's value without Morrissey's active involvement. Marr and Joyce have yet to comment on the matter. Morrissey's decision may have been influenced by failed attempts to reform the Smiths and challenges in releasing his 14th solo album, "Bonfire of Teenagers," which has faced delays and controversies.
Despite completing "Bonfire of Teenagers" in May 2021, Morrissey has encountered obstacles in releasing the album. He parted ways with his label, BMG, in 2020 and later claimed that major labels in London refused to release the album, despite acknowledging its quality. Morrissey remains determined to share his music with the world, emphasizing the album's significance and the efforts to suppress it as a testament to its power.
