Unveiling Fleetwood Mac's Tusk: A Journey of Experimentation and Rediscovery

Fleetwood Mac, known for their iconic album Rumours, ventured into the studio to create their twelfth album, Tusk, featuring Stevie Nicks and Lindsey Buckingham. The album showcased hits like Nicks' "Sara" and Buckingham's title track, both reaching the top 10. Despite Nicks introducing her song "The Dealer" during the Tusk sessions, it received a lukewarm response and was eventually left off the album.
Tusk, while not reaching the same heights as Rumours, peaked at No. 4 and stands out as Fleetwood Mac's most experimental album. Buckingham explained that the band intentionally deviated from the expected formula to avoid being pigeonholed by the industry's expectations.
Years later, Nicks revisited "The Dealer" for her solo debut album, Bella Donna, after shelving it for over three decades. The song, reflecting on past mistakes and lost love, was eventually rerecorded for her 2014 album, 24 Karat Gold: Songs from the Vault, featuring unreleased tracks from her career. Despite not charting in the U.S., "The Dealer" found moderate success in Belgium, reaching No. 72.
