Legendary guitarist Eric Clapton is set to make a return to Columbus this fall with a sold-out show at Mershon Auditorium on September 5. Clapton's connection to central Ohio goes beyond just a concert stop, with ties to the area dating back to family milestones and surprise appearances on stage.
Clapton's wife, Melia McEnery, hails from the Columbus area, and the couple first met in Los Angeles in 1999 before tying the knot in a private ceremony in England in 2002. The guitarist also purchased a mansion in Dublin, Ohio, in 2003, known for its picturesque golf courses and scenic landscapes.
The Dublin estate, originally constructed in 1995, is a blend of modern luxury and timeless elegance, serving as a home for Clapton and McEnery and their three daughters. Their eldest daughter, Julie Rose, was born in Columbus in June 2001, adding another chapter to the couple's Ohio connections.
