U Racing Stables: Jeff Lifson's Journey from TVG Broadcaster to Horse Partnership Success

Jeff Lifson, a former TVG broadcaster, transitioned to the world of horse partnerships with West Point Thoroughbreds before co-founding U Racing Stables with his wife, Stephanie Collins. The partnership recently acquired nine 2-year-olds at auction and had its first starter, Revera, finish second at Del Mar. Revera, trained by John Sadler, will race again at Del Mar against another Baffert juvenile, Sounds Lucky. Lifson acknowledges the challenge of competing against Baffert's horses but remains optimistic about their chances. U Racing Stables consults with trainers and advisers like Randy Miles and Bo Hunt to make informed purchases. The partnership raised capital upfront to have more flexibility in buying horses, as seen with their purchase of Revera. They work with trainers like Mark Glatt, Dallas Stewart, and Cherie DeVaux in different locations. Their Kentucky-based horse, Corona de Oro, will debut at Churchill Downs in September. Lifson emphasizes the importance of buying good horses and showing appreciation to those who support their efforts.
