1960s Music Memorabilia Auction: Beatles Autograph Book, Ivor Novello Certificates, and John Lennon's Tinted Glasses Up for Sale

A collection of memorabilia from the 1960s music scene is set to be auctioned off, including an autograph book filled with signatures from iconic bands of the era. The autographs were obtained by a 16-year-old girl named Edwina Smith, who befriended a caretaker at Salisbury City Hall where the Beatles were performing in 1963. Ms. Smith had the opportunity to meet and collect autographs from not only the Beatles but also other famous bands like the Rolling Stones, The Hollies, and Little Richard.
The autograph book, which is considered a rare find due to the variety of signatures it contains, is expected to sell for a price between £5,000 and £7,000. In addition to the autograph book, Ivor Novello certificates that were never claimed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney for their song "Yesterday" in 1966 will also be up for auction. These certificates, valued between £600 and £800, were left with the Beatles' music publisher and eventually ended up in the possession of an assistant who is now selling them.
Among the other items to be auctioned off is a pair of tinted glasses believed to have belonged to John Lennon, with an estimated value of £2,000 to £3,000. These glasses were given to actor Stephen Buckley, who portrayed Lennon in a film, by a woman who worked for Lennon. The auction will take place at Kingsley House in Chislehurst on September 17, offering fans and collectors a chance to own a piece of music history.
