2025 MTV VMAs Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne: A Celebration of the Prince of Darkness

The upcoming 2025 MTV VMAs will pay tribute to the late metal legend Ozzy Osbourne, known as the Prince of Darkness. Aerosmith's Steven Tyler and Joe Perry, along with Yungblud and Extreme's Nuno Bettencourt, will perform a medley of Osbourne's greatest hits during the live broadcast hosted by LL Cool J on CBS at 8 p.m. ET. Osbourne, a beloved figure in hard rock, had a long history with MTV, appearing on Headbanger's Ball and starring in the reality show "The Osbournes" from 2002-2005.

Osbourne passed away at age 76 on July 22, shortly after his final performance at the Back to the Beginning show in Birmingham, U.K. Yungblud and Bettencourt paid tribute to Osbourne with a cover of Black Sabbath's "Changes" at the show, where Bettencourt also performed with Tom Morello and Rudy Sarzo on Sabbath and Ozzy songs. The VMAs will also feature performances by Mariah Carey, Lady Gaga, Tate McRae, Alex Warren, and Sabrina Carpenter, with Busta Rhymes and Ricky Martin receiving special awards.
