Rock and Roll Relics: Rare 1960s Music Memorabilia Auction

A collection of rare memorabilia from the 1960s music scene is set to be auctioned off, including an autograph book filled with signatures from iconic bands of the era. The autographs were obtained by a 16-year-old girl named Edwina Smith, who befriended a caretaker at Salisbury City Hall where the Beatles performed in 1963. Ms. Smith had the opportunity to meet and collect autographs from not only the Beatles but also other famous bands like the Rolling Stones, The Hollies, and Little Richard. The autograph book is expected to sell for £5,000 to £7,000.

In addition to the autograph book, Ivor Novello certificates that were never claimed by John Lennon and Paul McCartney for their song "Yesterday" in 1966 will also be up for auction. These certificates, valued between £600 and £800, were left with the Beatles' music publisher and eventually ended up in the possession of an assistant who is now selling them. A pair of sunglasses believed to have belonged to John Lennon, valued at £2,000 to £3,000, will also be included in the auction. These glasses were given to actor Stephen Buckley, who portrayed Lennon in a film, by a woman who worked for Lennon.

The upcoming auction offers a unique opportunity for music fans and collectors to own a piece of music history from the 1960s. The autograph book, Ivor Novello certificates, and John Lennon's sunglasses are all rare items that provide a glimpse into the iconic era of rock and roll. Don't miss the chance to bid on these valuable and historic pieces when they go under the hammer.
