Mariah Carey to Receive Video Vanguard Award at MTV VMAs and Perform Greatest Hits Medley

Mariah Carey is set to receive the Video Vanguard Award at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards on September 7. This prestigious honor has been previously awarded to iconic artists like Beyoncé, Madonna, and Jennifer Lopez. Carey expressed her gratitude on Instagram and will also perform at the event for the first time in two decades. The singer will showcase a medley of her greatest hits during her performance.
Carey's win of the Video Vanguard Award follows her presentation of the same award to LL Cool J nearly three decades ago. LL Cool J, the first rapper to receive the honor, will host the 2025 show. Despite being a five-time GRAMMY winner, Carey has never won a VMA, but she is nominated this year in the Best R&B Video category for her song "Type Dangerous" from her upcoming album, Here For It All. The album, featuring collaborations with Anderson .Paak and The Clark Sisters, is set to be released on September 26.
In a recent interview, Carey shared her excitement about releasing new music after a long hiatus. She described the title track of her album as one of her favorites, mentioning its ballad, gospel, and jazzy elements. Fans can look forward to a diverse and captivating musical experience from Carey's upcoming album.
