Memphis Women's Soccer Makes History with Fastest Goal and Undefeated Non-Conference Play

The No. 14 Memphis women's soccer team made history by scoring the fastest goal in program history, finding the back of the net in just 12 seconds in a 1-0 victory over UT Martin. The Tigers finished non-conference play undefeated and extended their home unbeaten streak to 33 games. Head coach Brooks Monaghan praised the team's fast start but emphasized the need to improve in breaking down defensive teams. Memphis took the lead early through a goal by Perron after a quick passing sequence initiated by Ashley Henderson and Alex Mackay.
Throughout the first half, Memphis dominated possession and created numerous scoring opportunities, registering eight shots and 14 corner kicks. Despite their control of the game, the Tigers were unable to add to their lead. UT Martin managed their first shot in the 70th minute, but Memphis goalkeeper Ava Galani made a crucial save to preserve the clean sheet in her first career start. The Tigers will kick off American Conference play against Charlotte on September 11.
