Utah Grizzlies Set to Relocate to Trenton, New Jersey for 2026-27 Season

The Utah Grizzlies are set to move to Trenton, New Jersey, for the 2026-27 season, as reported by NHL insider Frank Seravalli. The team will play at the CURE Insurance Arena, the former home of the Trenton Titans. An official announcement is expected soon, along with a contest to rename the team.

The decision to relocate comes after the Grizzlies announced plans to explore the sale and potential move of the team in June. The change in ownership, following the passing of David Elmore, the team's current owner, has led to this transition. The team will play their final season at the Maverik Center before the move, with full commitment from players, coaches, and staff.

The ECHL, a minor professional hockey league, serves as a stepping stone below the American Hockey League and the National Hockey League. The Grizzlies are affiliated with the Colorado Avalanche in the NHL. Despite hopes for a connection between the Utah Mammoth and Grizzlies, the Mammoth had a one-year affiliation with the Allen Americans last season. The Mammoth will continue without an ECHL pipeline this year, relying primarily on players from their AHL team, the Tucson Roadrunners.

While the Mammoth will continue to represent hockey in Utah, the Grizzlies' move marks the end of minor-league hockey in the state. Fans can catch the Grizzlies' last opening night at the Maverik Center on October 25 at 7:10 p.m. as they face the Idaho Steelheads. Stay tuned for more updates on the team's relocation and future plans.
