Doug Barnes, Jr. Dominates Southern National Motorsports Park Race with Fourth Late Model Stock Car Victory

Doug Barnes, Jr. dominated the 125-lap race at Southern National Motorsports Park, leading from start to finish. He secured his fourth Late Model Stock Car victory of the season after qualifying on the pole. Despite facing challenges during restarts, Barnes managed to stay ahead of the competition and extend his lead each time. This win adds to his previous successes, including three wins during Speed Week earlier in the year.
Barnes credited his exceptional car for his victory, acknowledging the hard work of his team in providing him with a fast and reliable vehicle. His familiarity with the track and his ability to find speed on the abrasive surface contributed to his consistent performance throughout the race. The win not only showcases Barnes' talent but also boosts his confidence and momentum for future races.
Deac McCaskill, a four-time track champion, battled with Michael Fose for the runner-up position during the race. McCaskill praised Barnes for his speed and acknowledged that he couldn't match his pace. Despite struggling with the car's handling, McCaskill was satisfied with his performance and aimed to make improvements for upcoming races. Fose finished third, followed by Ross "Boo Boo" Dalton in fourth and Daniel Vuncannon in fifth place.
The race faced multiple interruptions due to inclement weather, with the program being halted five times for rain. Despite the challenging conditions, the race continued, and Barnes maintained his lead until the checkered flag. The next race in the I-95 Showdown's "Battleback Round" is scheduled to take place at Florence Motor Speedway on October 11.
