The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market has announced its selection of 23 feature film projects for its sixth edition, highlighting a strong presence of Southeast Asian and Italian co-productions. The lineup emphasizes projects with Asian elements that have secured a significant portion of their budgets. Vietnamese director Diep Nguyen Hoang leads the Southeast Asian representation with "1982," while Filipino talent is showcased through Rafael Manuel's "Filipinana" and Don Josephus Raphael Eblahan's "Hum."

The market introduces its first-ever Japanese feature-length animation selection with "Freedom in the Sky," a collaboration between Genco Inc. and director Ayumu Watanabe. Other notable projects include John Aurthur Mercader's "Anito" from the Philippines, Ronny Gani's "Garuda: Dare to Dream" from Indonesia, and Kazuaki Kuribayashi's "Kill Tube." The Japan-Italy Film Co-production Agreement has also resulted in three selected projects, including Jang Kun-jae's "Staring at Your Back" and Pedro Collantes' "Konbini."

The diverse selection spans 26 countries and regions, featuring projects like Natsuki Seta's "Polaris," Melisa Önel's "Pivot," and Diogo Hayashi's "The Serpent." Recent alumni of the market have garnered recognition at major festivals, with "Dear Stranger" premiering at the Busan International Film Festival and "Little Amélie or the Character of Rain" winning the Audience Award at Annecy.

The Tokyo Gap-Financing Market provides a platform for projects in the financing stage, offering opportunities for industry professionals to support project development and financing. The 6th edition of the market will take place from October 29 to 31 at Port Studio, Tokyo Portcity Takeshiba.
