Unveiling the Collaboration: Don Henley and Axl Rose on 'The End of the Innocence

Don Henley embarked on his third solo album, The End of the Innocence, in the late 1980s while being signed to the same label as Guns N’ Roses. Henley even stepped in as a drummer for the band at the American Music Awards when their drummer, Steven Adler, fell ill. The collaboration came about when Axl Rose called Henley to fill in for the performance of the ballad “Patience,” a task Henley gladly accepted. The experience brought back memories for Henley, who appreciated the opportunity to work with Guns N’ Roses and perform at the awards show.
Returning the favor, Axl Rose lent his vocals to one of the tracks on The End of the Innocence.
