Jennifer Lopez Reflects on Auditioning for Evita and Embracing Kiss of the Spider-Woman

Jennifer Lopez recently reminisced about her audition for the musical Evita in 1996 during a Q&A session for her new film Kiss of the Spider-Woman. She shared how she auditioned for the role of Eva Perón after Madonna had already been cast in the part. Despite not landing the role, Lopez moved on graciously.

Madonna's portrayal of Eva Perón in the film Evita earned critical acclaim and several Academy Award nominations. Director Alan Parker led the project, which was a significant success in 1997.

In a previous interview, Lopez mentioned her audition for Evita and other musicals like Chicago and Nine. Despite not getting those roles, she believes that Kiss of the Spider-Woman is the right project for her at this time.

Kiss of the Spider-Woman marks Lopez's first movie musical, where she plays the role of a fictional screen star named Ingrid Luna. The film follows the story of two prisoners in a South American jail who escape their reality through a Hollywood musical fantasy.

Lopez faced challenges while filming musical sequences for the movie, as many scenes were shot in one continuous take, reminiscent of classic musicals. Despite the difficulty, she found the experience exhilarating and rewarding.

The movie Kiss of the Spider-Woman is scheduled to hit theaters on October 10. Stay tuned for more updates on Hollywood news, upcoming English movie releases, red carpet events, box office updates, reviews, and trailers. Download the News18 App to stay informed.
