Legal Battle Update: Taylor Swift's Involvement in Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni Case
Taylor Swift will not be deposed in the legal battle between Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. The U.S. District judge overseeing the case declined Baldoni's request for a 30-day extension of the discovery cut-off date. Lively's extension request was granted until October 10. Baldoni's attorney had asked for extra time to depose Swift, claiming she was willing to do so but could not until October 20 due to prior commitments.
Swift's attorney clarified that she did not agree to a deposition but would accommodate the time required during the week of October 20 if necessary. Lively filed a lawsuit against Baldoni and his colleagues, alleging sexual harassment and a smear campaign after speaking up about it. Baldoni had previously filed a countersuit against Lively and Ryan Reynolds, which was dismissed by the judge in June.
Baldoni claimed he was pressured into accepting Lively's suggested rewrites for a movie during a meeting with Swift and Reynolds. Lively allegedly referred to Reynolds and Swift as her "dragons" in a text exchange with Baldoni. Swift's rep refuted claims that she was involved in the movie's production, stating she was not on set, did not make creative decisions, and did not see the film until after its public release. The subpoena for Swift was withdrawn in May.
