Rasmus Dahlin's Heartfelt Journey: A Message of Gratitude and Hope

Dear Hockey and Buffalo Communities,

I am reaching out to share a personal and challenging experience that my fiancée, Carolina, and our families went through recently. While vacationing in France, Carolina fell seriously ill, leading to a sudden and severe heart failure. Thanks to the quick administration of CPR and the dedicated efforts of medical professionals, Carolina's life was saved. She underwent a heart transplant in France and is now on the road to recovery.

We are immensely grateful to the nurses, doctors, and staff at the hospitals in Antibes Juan–Les–Pins, Marseille, Gothenburg, and the Hogsbo Rehabilitation Center for their exceptional care and support during this difficult time. The NHLPA, NHL, and the Sabres organization, including Dr. Scott Delaney, Terry and Kim Pegula, Kevyn Adams, and Lindy Ruff, provided unwavering support and assistance, which we deeply appreciate.

Carolina's strength, positivity, and resilience throughout her rehabilitation process have been truly inspiring. This challenging experience has taught us valuable lessons and reinforced the importance of cherishing each day and the people in our lives. We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we have received and feel incredibly fortunate.

We hope that by sharing our story, we can raise awareness about the importance of CPR, organ donation, and heart-related issues. We are grateful for the gift of life that organ donation has given Carolina and express our deepest gratitude to all organ donors. We urge everyone to appreciate the moments and relationships that enrich our lives every day.

As Carolina continues her recovery journey, we are touched by the ongoing support from the Swedish, Buffalo, and hockey communities. We are thankful for the kindness and understanding shown to us and kindly request privacy as Carolina progresses towards full recovery.

With heartfelt thanks,

Rasmus Dahlin and Carolina Matovac
