Bob McAdoo Tribute Ceremony at Benbow Park: Honoring a Greensboro Legend

Greensboro, North Carolina will pay tribute to local legend and NBA Hall of Famer Bob McAdoo by dedicating the basketball court at Benbow Park in his honor. The ceremony will take place on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Benbow Park basketball court on 2001 S. Side Blvd. Shuttles will be available from 2401 South Side Blvd., with parking at Kindred Hospital. In case of rain, the event will be relocated to the Simkins Sports Pavilion at Barber Park. Attendees are welcome to enjoy food and fellowship after the ceremony.
Bob McAdoo, a standout athlete from Greensboro, attended Ben L. Smith High School before achieving success at Vincennes Junior College and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He was named the NBA Rookie of the Year in 1973, MVP in 1975, and won two championships with the Los Angeles Lakers. Following his retirement in 1993, McAdoo worked as an assistant coach and scout for the Miami Heat. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2000.
