Exploring Aunt Gladys: The Weapons Prequel in Development

The horror film "Weapons," directed by Zach Cregger, received high praise and performed well at the box office. Warner Bros. and New Line Cinema are considering expanding it into a franchise, with talks of a prequel focusing on the character Aunt Gladys, played by Amy Madigan. Cregger has confirmed that the prequel is in development.
The cast of "Weapons" includes Madigan, Julia Garner, Josh Brolin, Alden Ehrenreich, Benedict Wong, Austin Abrams, June Diane Raphael, and Cary Christopher. The film is described as an interrelated horror epic similar in tone to "Magnolia," revolving around the disappearance of elementary school children in a small town.
Cregger had initially written more about Aunt Gladys in the script, including a detailed backstory, but decided to trim it down for the film's runtime. He offered Madigan two options for the character's backstory: either a normal person using dark magic to cure her disease or a non-human creature attempting to mimic humans.
The possibility of a Weapons prequel has been confirmed by Cregger, who has been in discussions with Warner Bros. about the project. While it is unclear if Cregger will direct the prequel, he is currently preparing to work on a movie inspired by the Resident Evil video game franchise.
Fans of "Weapons" can look forward to the prequel as it moves forward in development. Share your thoughts on the upcoming project in the comments below.
