Revitalizing Feltham: The Unveiling of the Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden and Eco Cabin

Brian May of Queen and Freddie Mercury’s sister, Kashmira Bulsara, recently inaugurated the new Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden in Feltham. This event marked a significant milestone in Feltham's revitalization efforts, as the garden was unveiled on Feltham Green. The garden is part of the initial phase of the Feltham Green masterplan, a collaborative effort between Hounslow Council and the Friends of Feltham Green to transform an underutilized space into a vibrant community area. The enhancements include new landscaping, steps, and sightlines, making the site more accessible to the public and serving as a lasting tribute to one of Feltham's renowned former residents.

Freddie Mercury resided in Feltham with his family, where he crossed paths with Brian May, who also had roots in the town. Kashmira Bulsara, Freddie's sister, provided guidance on the garden's floral arrangements, which now feature Freddie Mercury Roses planted in his honor. The event also marked the completion of the Feltham Green Eco Cabin, a striking zero-carbon structure designed in collaboration with the community and supported by various entities, including the Council, the Mayor of London, A2Dominion, and other donors. The Eco Cabin will serve as a hub for the Friends of Feltham Green, hosting a range of activities such as gardening workshops, after-school clubs, exhibitions, and community events, with the possibility for other groups to rent the space.

The transformation of Feltham Green is part of the broader Future Feltham masterplan, which outlines an ambitious vision for the area's development. With plans for over 3,000 homes, 9,200 jobs, new leisure and community facilities, and improved transportation links, Hounslow Council is committed to delivering inclusive, sustainable regeneration that reflects the town's unique identity. The Freddie Mercury Memorial Garden and the Feltham Green Eco Cabin stand as symbols of community collaboration and revitalization efforts in Feltham, honoring the legacy of one of its most iconic residents.
