Dan + Shay Concert: University of Oklahoma's Showtime on the Soval Event
The University of Oklahoma has announced the cancellation of all in-person classes after 3 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, to accommodate the Showtime on the Soval event featuring country duo Dan + Shay. Academic and campus operations at the Norman campus, OU Health campuses, and OU-Tulsa will be suspended during this time, while online courses will continue as scheduled. Students in health-related programs are advised to consult with faculty or preceptors. The concert will take place on the South Oval starting at 7 p.m., with gates opening at 5 p.m.
During the event, only essential employees will be required to stay on-site or report to their on-campus positions. Remote work will not be allowed, but eligible employees will receive administrative leave. Normal operations will resume on October 24. Admission to the concert is free for students, faculty, and staff, but attendees must reserve a ticket, which will be available for claiming starting October 1. Faculty and staff must present a valid university ID along with their ticket for entry. The event will offer concessions and adhere to OU's security protocols, including a clear bag policy.
The concert is part of the Soval Series, a series of events celebrating OU spirit and tradition. Other events in the series include the Beat Bevo Bash and Holiday Lights, which support OU's "Lead On, University: The Next Phase" Strategic Plan.
