Rolling Stones' Black and Blue 50th Anniversary Super Deluxe Reissue: Unveiling Rare Tracks and Exclusive Content

The Rolling Stones are commemorating the 50th anniversary of their album Black and Blue with a Super Deluxe reissue that includes rare and unreleased material. The reissue, available in 5LP and 4CD formats, features a Blu-ray disc, a 100-page hardback book, and a replica tour poster. Fans can also get a limited 5LP edition on black-and-blue marbled vinyl from select online stores. Pre-orders are now open for all versions.
During the recording of Black and Blue, the Rolling Stones were in search of a new guitarist, leading to collaborations with Harvey Mandel, Wayne Perkins, Jeff Beck, and Robert A. Johnson. Ronnie Wood, formerly of Faces, eventually joined the band permanently. The album showcased the band's exploration of reggae, funk, and soul influences while maintaining their rock roots. Hits like "Fool To Cry," "Hot Stuff," and "Memory Motel" emerged from these sessions.
The 2025 reissue of Black and Blue includes a six-track disc of previously unreleased recordings, featuring songs like "I Love Ladies" and a cover of Shirley & Company's "Shame, Shame, Shame." Instrumental jams from the 1975 sessions with guest guitarists offer insight into the band's creative process. These tracks demonstrate the Stones' experimentation with new sounds and guitar styles that would shape their future music.
The box set also contains a full concert recording from the band's Earls Court Exhibition Centre shows in London, with special guests Ian Stewart, Billy Preston, and Ollie Brown. A Blu-ray disc features a previously unreleased TV broadcast of the Stones' 1976 Paris show, along with Dolby Atmos surround mixes of the original album and the Earls Court concert in high-resolution stereo. The collection is rounded out with a 100-page book by Stones expert Paul Sexton, rare photos, and a replica of the 1976 Paris concert poster.
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of Black and Blue, the Rolling Stones are offering fans a comprehensive reissue that delves into the album's creation and showcases previously unheard material. This Super Deluxe edition is a must-have for collectors and fans of the iconic band.
