2025 Summer League Film Festival: Celebrating NBA Players' Creative Storytelling on the Big Screen
The 2025 Summer League Film Festival, organized by Mark Wahlberg’s Unrealistic Ideas, Kevin Garnett’s Content King Studios, Deon Taylor’s Hidden Empire Film Group, and VSL Properties, has announced the winners of this year's event. The festival, which focuses on films created by NBA players, took place in Las Vegas and showcased the power of sports storytelling through various projects.
The festival featured films from NBA players like Luguentz Dort, Nikola Jokić, Udonis Haslem, Dražen Petrović, Jaime Jaquez Jr., Nate Robinson, and Greg Oden. The highlight of the event was the premiere of "Kings of Vegas," a film about the UNLV Runnin’ Rebels, which brought together UNLV basketball legends and special guests like Snoop Dogg, Chuck D, and Jimmy Kimmel.
Mark Wahlberg expressed his excitement about NBA players bringing these stories to life, while Kevin Garnett highlighted the importance of the festival in providing a platform for NBA players with production companies to showcase their work and collaborate.
The winners of the 2025 SLFF Awards are as follows:
- Best Documentary Feature: "Tony Allen: The Grindfather" directed by Michael Blevins
- Best Narrative Feature: "Dražen" directed by Danilo Serbedzija & Ljubo Zdjelarevic
- Best Documentary Short: "Dialing Scottie" produced by Leo Geneser & Issac Weinberg
- Best Narrative Short: "Groupies" directed by Corey Grant
- Audience Choice Award: "Kings of Vegas" directed by Deon Taylor
- Social Impact Award: "A Time to Yell" directed by Eric Newman and "Pros and Cons" directed by Sam Maller
- Game Changer Award: "Three Point Revolution" directed by David Feldon and "Hoops of Heritage" directed by Yinzhi Peter Pan, Kaylee Smith, and Minja Zeljkovic.
