Canucks' Skate of Your Dreams: Inspiring Kids to Reach Their Hockey Dreams

The Vancouver Canucks recently hosted a special event called Skate of Your Dreams at Rogers Arena, where kids had the opportunity to hit the ice before the team's preseason game. This event, presented by Rogers, aims to inspire children to pursue their dreams in hockey and in life by emphasizing hard work, fun, and teamwork. Canucks Alumni Chris Higgins and Stan Smyl, along with current player Filip Chytil, were on hand to coach the kids during the event.
One of the young participants, Alex, a 9-year-old goaltender from Vancouver minor hockey, was excited to showcase his skills on the ice. His favorite player is Kevin Lankinen, and he enjoys the pressure of being the last line of defense. Alex loves the atmosphere at Rogers Arena and the positive vibes when the Canucks secure a victory.
Another participant, Kayleena, a 10-year-old hockey player from Maple Ridge, had the opportunity to score a goal during the game at Rogers Arena. She has been playing hockey for six years and has previously skated on the ice at Rogers Arena as part of the Canucks Kids Club. Kayleena cherished the experience of seeing the Canucks' locker room during the event.
Parents watched proudly as their children warmed up, participated in the national anthem, and played the game. Christina Chiu's son Micah, an eight-year-old hockey player, was inspired by his older brother to take up the sport. Micah looks up to players like Quinn Hughes, Conor Garland, Kiefer Sherwood, and Evander Kane for their dedication and achievements on the ice. The event was particularly special for Micah, as he received a personalized Canucks jersey with his name on it.
The Skate of Your Dreams program goes beyond providing kids with ice time; it allows them to see themselves in the game they love, surrounded by role models and supported by their community. The event creates lasting memories for the children and instills a sense of pride and accomplishment in their hockey journey.
