CCRTA Bus Roadeo Showcases Driving Skills and Safety Commitment

The Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) recently hosted its annual Bus Roadeo, where bus operators and mechanics demonstrated their driving skills and technical expertise. Participants in different bus divisions navigated challenging obstacle courses to showcase their precision and professionalism on the road. The event aimed to emphasize safety and service while determining the team members who will represent Corpus Christi at the State Bus Roadeo in Lubbock next spring.

Rita Patrick, CCRTA Managing Director of Communications, highlighted the importance of the event in showcasing the safety and driving skills of the bus operators. The obstacle courses simulated real-world scenarios, testing the drivers' ability to maneuver through tight spaces without knocking down barrels that represented street corners and pedestrians. The successful completion of these challenges reflected the drivers' competence and the agency's commitment to maintaining a safe driving environment.

Last year, CCRTA's operators and mechanics advanced to the International Roadeo in Austin, competing against top professionals from across the country. This year, the team aims to qualify once again for the national competition in Salt Lake City, Utah. The roadeo event not only recognizes the dedication and skills of CCRTA staff but also reinforces the agency's mission to provide safe and reliable transportation services for the community.
