RJ Decker: A New Crime Drama Series Starring Scott Speedman

ABC has greenlit a new series titled "RJ Decker" for the 2025-26 season, with Scott Speedman in the lead role. The show is based on Carl Hiaasen's novel "Double Whammy" and follows RJ Decker, a former newspaper photographer and ex-con turned private investigator in South Florida. With the help of his journalist ex, her police detective wife, and a mysterious benefactor from his past, RJ takes on a variety of cases, from the odd to the bizarre.

Speedman's new role in "RJ Decker" will not affect his recurring role on "Grey's Anatomy" as Dr. Nick Marsh. The series also features Kevin Rankin, Adelaide Clemens, and Bevin Bru in supporting roles, with the character of Shay Bennett being recast after the pilot.

ABC has seen success with crime-centered dramas like "High Potential" and "Will Trent," both featuring unique protagonists. "RJ Decker" is produced by 20th Television and is written and executive produced by Rob Doherty, with Carl Beverly, Sarah Timberman, and Paul McGuigan also serving as executive producers. Speedman is also a producer on the show.
