Jeremy Irons Joins Star-Studded Cast of Highlander Remake: A Look at the Epic Fantasy Adventure

Jeremy Irons, a distinguished actor with prestigious awards such as the Oscar, Emmy, and Tony, has joined the star-studded cast of Highlander, the Amazon MGM remake of the beloved 1980s film. The film features Henry Cavill in the lead role, alongside Russell Crowe, Marisa Abela, Dave Bautista, Karen Gillan, and Djimon Hounsou. Directed by Chad Stahelski, the action fantasy is set for a theatrical release, with production scheduled to begin in early 2026 due to Cavill's injury delay.

Cavill portrays Connor MacLeod, a Scottish Highlander who discovers his immortality and engages in epic battles with other immortal warriors throughout history. Crowe plays Ramirez, a swordsman who aids MacLeod in his quest. Bautista takes on the role of The Kurgen, the film's main antagonist, while Gillan portrays MacLeod's mortal wife. Hounsou plays an immortal warrior from Africa, and Abela is MacLeod's contemporary love interest. Irons joins the cast as the leader of The Watchers, a secret order monitoring the immortals.

The script for the Highlander remake was penned by Michael Finch, with production led by Scott Stuber, Nick Nesbitt, Neal H. Moritz, and others.
