Kiwi Rider Damon Rees Set to Make History at Macau Grand Prix

New Zealand rider Damon Rees is gearing up for his debut at the Macau Grand Prix, where he will be riding a Honda Fireblade for the Jackson Racing Team alongside Northern Ireland’s Paul Jordan. Rees will be the first Kiwi to race at Macau since road racing legend Bruce Anstey in 2011. Having made his debut at the North West 200 and Isle of Man TT this year, Rees is looking forward to the challenge of the 3.8-mile Guia street course.
At the North West 200, Rees faced setbacks but bounced back to finish 15th in the Superbike race, 13th in the Superstock race, and 11th in the blue riband Superbike race. His performance at the Isle of Man TT saw him finish 23rd in the opening Superstock race and 19th in the second race. Rees expressed his excitement about racing at Macau, highlighting the technical demands of the street circuit and the honor of representing New Zealand on the global stage.
Reflecting on his road racing achievements this year, Rees mentioned the incredible highs he has experienced, including being the 5th fastest-ever newcomer at the Isle of Man TT. He emphasized the importance of precision and commitment on the narrow and unforgiving streets of Macau, where he has been training to showcase his talent. Rees is determined to build on his success and carry the flag for New Zealand's motorsport community at the prestigious Macau Grand Prix.
