Ozzy Osbourne's Hilarious Gandalf The Grey Parody Goes Viral: Unseen Ozzfest Skit Resurfaces

A viral video featuring Ozzy Osbourne as Gandalf The Grey from The Lord Of The Rings has been making the rounds on social media platforms. The footage, originally from 2003, shows the late Prince Of Darkness in a parody skit wearing a fake beard, hat, and robes while wielding a staff. The clip has been shared on Instagram, TikTok, Reddit, Facebook, and YouTube, with Ozzy humorously replacing the original dialogue with his own lines.

Some users have falsely claimed that the skit was a reenactment commissioned by Ozzy and sent to the Lord Of The Rings filmmakers due to his love for the fantasy trilogy. However, the skit was actually part of a series created for Ozzy's 2003 Ozzfest heavy metal festival. The shorts were intended to be shown on concert screens before performances but were ultimately not used.

In addition to the Lord Of The Rings spoof, other unused film parodies featuring Ozzy were uploaded to YouTube in 2006. These included Ozzy standing in for Morpheus in The Matrix, General Patton in Patton, journalist Martin Bashir, and more. The Ozzfest 2003 lineup, headlined by Ozzy and his solo band, featured bands like Korn, Disturbed, Cradle Of Filth, and Killswitch Engage.

Ozzy Osbourne passed away at the age of 76 on July 22, 2025, following his retirement concert Back To The Beginning in Birmingham, UK. He had retired from touring in 2023 due to the physical effects of Parkinson's disease and spinal surgeries. Two documentaries about Ozzy's final years, "Sharon & Ozzy Osbourne: Coming Home" and "Ozzy: No Escape From Now," are set to be broadcast in the coming days.
