BC Eagles Hockey: Rising Stars and Season Outlook

Boston College is gearing up to start their season against Quinnipiac with a roster that includes six Boston Bruins' draft picks. Among them is sophomore forward James Hagens, the Bruins' No. 1 selection in the 2025 NHL Draft. Hagens had an impressive freshman season playing alongside two first-round draft picks who moved on to the NHL after the team's loss in the regional final. Despite the departure of key players, Hagens made significant contributions and was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team.
The pressure of being a top prospect in the NHL Draft did not deter Hagens from performing well in his first year. Coach Greg Brown commended Hagens for handling the expectations and distractions with maturity. With the draft behind him, Hagens is now focused on being a key player for the team and has shown growth in his leadership role. The Bruins have invested in several BC players in previous drafts, further strengthening the team's lineup.
Five of the Bruins' prospects participated in the club's summer developmental program, providing them with valuable experience and insight into the intensity and detail required in professional hockey. BC has also welcomed incoming freshmen to replace graduating seniors and departing players. The addition of experienced scorer Ryan Conmy from New Hampshire adds depth to the team and helps offset the loss of key players to graduation and the NHL.
The Eagles face a challenging schedule in October, including matchups against ranked teams like Quinnipiac, Minnesota, Denver, and Northeastern. Coach Brown sees this tough schedule as an opportunity for the team to learn and grow early in the season. The upcoming games will test the team's abilities and provide valuable experience as they aim to build on their success from the previous season.
